Explore the Canadian Rockies and the Muskwa/Kechika Wilderness area - Choose from a variety of daily guided activities such as hiking, boating, canoeing, visits to the Liard River Hotsprings, animal watching and fishing on Muncho Lake. Relax after an exciting tour at one of our comfortable Chalets on the shores of Muncho Lake.
Stone sheep, Caribou, Moose, Mountain Goat and Buffalo inhabit the untouched Northern Rocky Mountains.
Hiking in Muncho Lake Provincial Park is as easy as crossing the historic Alaska Highway in front of the Lodge and following a dry creek bed upstream to a canyon, a waterfall or a mountain peak. There are many gravel washes along the Alaska Highway and stone sheep and caribou use the washes to trek down to the road and lick the salt that has been used to melt ice in the winter.
Soaking in the Liard River Hotsprings after a day of hiking or sightseeing and learn about the surprising variety of flowers and plants growing in this mild oasis are a welcome treat.
Amazing fall colors highlight the Muncho Lake Valley during our Indian Summer in late August and September. Spectacular displays of Northern Lights - Aurora Borealis - can be watched right from the Northern Rockies Lodge between mid-August and mid-April.
To crown your Northern adventure you may want to book, right at the lodge, one of our flight seeing day tours by floatplane to Nahanni National Park/Virginia Falls in the Northwest Territories or to the Wokkpash Gorge with countless Hoodoos - stone pillars - lining the 5km canyon.
